The Mountains at Last

After picking up Benny in Connecticuit, we headed into Pennsylvania and found a small town to clandestinely camp in. My feet froze and frost glazed my bag, as I woke up early to stars, and wrestled with the cold till dawn. I hid in the van till morning, and pushed through some light reading ;) We pushed through to driving by Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline by evening, and cruised the streets before cooking 2 gallons of rice, wheat berries and beans at a friend's apartment in the city. Finally the real mid-West was before us, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and South Dakota. The highlight was cross the Missouri, stopping at the lookout, instinctively breaking out the 22 inch drum, and finding myself in the presence of two bald eagles. After returning with my quena flute, they ruffled their feathers and flew off across the vast river.

We drove all day and made it to Sioux City and slept in the van. We woke up early, and in 10 minutes we were off to crank across the prairie toward the wondrous Badlands and Black Hills. The Badlands were other worldly drip castles from star wars. Hot Springs had only lukewarm springs as we found out, but after camping on a bluff under the stars, we went to Evans Plunge and for 4.25 immersed ourselves in dry heat, burning steam, and a water slide or two. Next we drove up the Black Hills, stopped for 4 minutes on the road looking at Mt. Rushmore, and skipped the 11 bucks for parking. This was another big day of driving, all across Montana to Bozeman. We had some seriously epic conversations, meditation, tibetan bowls, dubstep, psytrance and psychedelic art.

Yesterday I had a great time skiing Bridger Bowl with Swift and Duncan, with some epic powder and adventuring across the ridge. Watch out for those 100 footers in bounds! My tele skills were put to the test - no spills at all, and I even managed a few style points.

Finally we came back to set up a crazy psychedelic environment with Duncan on the full DJ set up with me on the projections, audio driven multicolored LEDs, and live art on the new handmade easel, Swiftocrazy man on the electric energy dial, and Benny on the dance floor vibe. I was impressed. Never seen a home party like that. Almost like a crescendo of possibility, erupting into the timeline, and bursting with vibrant psychedelic vision, gritty moves and color, with the heavens likewise aligning. For projections I had milkdrop and electric sheep going, and only broke out the point the camera at the output of the projector trick, at the end, and we made the energy come alive.

Some New Art Pieces:

Started the night before leaving - black pen is impressive.

Started on the road, bilateral channels of beings to the max.

Threw down some notepad art on a walk in Bozeman. I'm impressed and excited.

And now... my first live art attempt. Nothing like putting mind on paper. Swing!!!

Live art for hire... let the being come alive.

  1. So much for Mt. Rushmore! Sounds like grooving with Swift and Duncan was more enlightening.
Hope to hear about driving over famous Donner Pass.
